History

La Machine opened in 2016 on Place Saint-Géry, a short walk from the Bourse. The sign says “Est. 1886”: that belongs to the setting, not to our age.

The setting is steampunk: a steam organ, cogs, machines, a winged creature on the ceiling, a smoking room with Chesterfield armchairs downstairs and a raised stage on the ground floor.

People come for the cocktails, the Belgian beers and the spirits, and for the music: DJs and bands from the Belgian scene, most of the time with free entry.

It is also a place for afterworks, birthdays and private events, in one of our spaces or in the whole house.

And yes, there is a second bar downstairs: Le Fumoir, its brickwork, its Chesterfield armchairs and its counter. It is never hired on its own — always with Le Boudoir, next door.
