Booking conditions

Table rules

They apply to tables in the bar and to last minute.

  • From 8 guests.
  • Guarantee: your card is registered when you book; nothing is charged. €15 per guest who does not show.
  • The table is held for 20 minutes after the planned arrival time.
  • We charge only if nobody from the group has arrived after 20 minutes, or, for the no-shows, if fewer than half the group came.
  • Free cancellation or reduction in numbers up to 12 hours before.

Fewer than 8?

No need to book: just come along.

Three days or less: last minute

From three days before the date, a room that has not been booked for private hire is offered with no minimum spend. La Lodge first; Le Boudoir if your group is too large for La Lodge or if it is already taken.

It is a room, not a private hire. For a planned party, see our private parties.

  • Our own playlist only.
  • No artisan platters: they are ordered at least 7 days ahead.
  • No decorations.
  • An arrival time, set when you book.

The guarantee: general terms, section IX

Extract from La Machine’s general terms and conditions (consumers), version AV-2026-11.

36. Scope. This section governs the reservation of a table in the bar and of a room allocated at the last minute, for eight persons or more (the “Reservation”). Articles 1, 3 (definitions of Client and Guests), 7, 16, 20, 21 and 24 to 35 also apply to the Reservation. The other articles, which are specific to the private hire of a Space, do not apply to it.

37. Formation. The Client’s request does not constitute a Reservation. The Reservation is formed when La Machine confirms it in writing.

38. Registration of the card. When booking, the Client registers a payment card with La Machine’s payment provider (Stripe). No amount is charged on registration. La Machine has access neither to the card number nor to its security data.

39. Changes and cancellation. The Client may cancel the Reservation or reduce the number of persons free of charge up to 12 hours before the planned arrival time, in writing; a reply to the confirmation e-mail is sufficient. The reduced number then becomes the number reserved.

40. Holding the table. The table or room is held for twenty minutes after the planned arrival time. On Fridays and Saturdays, the planned arrival time for a table in the bar may not be later than 10:30 pm.

41. Indemnity for absence. An indemnity of €15 incl. VAT per absent person may be charged to the registered card in the following two cases only: no member of the group is present twenty minutes after the planned time, in which case the indemnity covers the number reserved; or fewer than half of the number reserved are present, in which case the indemnity covers each absent person. No indemnity is due where at least half of the number reserved are present, nor where the Reservation was cancelled or reduced within the period in article 39.

42. Charging. The charge is never automatic. It is decided by a member of the team after the evening, on the basis of the number of persons actually present, and the Client is informed of it in writing on the same day, with the amount and how it was calculated.

43. Impediment. No indemnity is due where the absence results from an impediment beyond the Client’s reasonable control, within the meaning of article 16, established by supporting evidence. The amount charged is then refunded within 30 days.

44. Reciprocity. If La Machine, otherwise than for force majeure, does not honour a confirmed Reservation, it pays the Client an indemnity of €15 incl. VAT per person of the number reserved, within 30 days (art. VI.83, 17° and 27° CDE).

45. Dispute. The Client may dispute the charge in writing within 30 days. If the number of persons recorded was wrong, the difference is refunded within 30 days. This article does not deprive the Client of any other right or remedy (articles 31 to 33).

Private hire

Payment and cancellation terms are those of a private hire; we set them out with the quote.

Cancelling a private hire: general terms, art. 14 and 15

Extract from La Machine’s general terms and conditions (consumers), version AV-2026-11.

14. Cancellation by the Client. The Client may cancel the reservation at any time, in writing. The indemnity is calculated on the Minimum spend alone and increases as the date approaches: 25 % more than thirty days in advance; 50 % from thirty to fourteen days; 75 % at less than fourteen days. Sums already paid are set off against it; any excess is refunded within thirty days. If the Space is booked again for the same date and the same time slot, the indemnity is reduced by the full amount actually received, with no floor. No indemnity is due where the cancellation results from an impediment beyond the reasonable control of the Client within the meaning of art. 16 — notably an illness, a hospitalisation or a death affecting the Client or a person close to him — established by supporting evidence. The parties then seek a postponement as a matter of priority, to a date within twelve months; failing agreement within fifteen days, or where the date of the event falls before the expiry of that period, the sums received are refunded in full.

15. Cancellation by La Machine. If La Machine withdraws from performance otherwise than for force majeure, it refunds the sums received in full and pays the Client an indemnity equal to the amount he would have had to pay if he had himself cancelled on the same date (art. VI.83, 27° CDE). That indemnity is due without deduction: the reduction provided for in art. 14 where the Space is booked again operates only in favour of the Client.
